ISS Expedition 7 : Flown $2 Bill
Launch Date: April 26, 2003 | Splashdown Date: October 28, 2003
About the Provenance
This bill, along with three other flown specimens, was acquired directly from the personal space collection of Yuri Malenchenko. The bills come with flight certification documents, and photographs of Yuri during the signing of each bill.
About the Bill
This series 1995 bill, with the serial number F07347786B is one of four flown $2 bills from this mission in the museum’s collection. Yuri Malenchenko took a number of $2 bills (estimated as no more than 15) with him as a symbolic gesture to represent the two-manned crew of their mission. The bill was stamped, on orbit, with the official ISS postal cancelation, and the Soyuz blue mission cancelation stamp. Back on Earth, Malenchenko signed each of the bills. The ISS Expedition 7 flown $2 bills hold the distinction of having spent the longest total time in space.
